In Doom: The Dark Ages, you don’t just rely on guns. You’ve got two main weapon types to wreck demons with:

  • Melee Weapons – Great for smashing enemies and refilling your ammo when you’re running low.

1. Combat Shotgun – Your Go To Starter

Combat Shotgun is the first weapon you get in Chapter 1: Village of Khalim but don’t underestimate it. Perfect for short to mid-range fight and it is great for dealing quick damage and farming armor thanks to its burn effect when upgraded. While it loses the grenade launcher from Doom Eternalbut its fast fire rate and armor-boosting upgrades make it a solid choice for shielded or rushing enemies throughout the game.

  • Incendiary: Dealing enough damage to demon with Burn
  • Smelt: Demon affected by Burn done by Combat Shotgun drops armor pickups
  • Blast: Causes Demons to explode on death
  • Tune Up: Combat Shotgun fires three round brust rapidly
  • Flare-Up: Instantly applies Burn to fodder demons
  • Eat This: Increased number of projectiles in every single shot

2. Super Shotgun – Close-Range Devastator

What should i say Super Shot gun or JackHammer? This gun returns with its signature double-barrel blast by delivering a massive damage at point-blank range. Although it no longer features the grappling hook like we use to see in previous titles but its raw power makes it indispensable for close-quarters combat. You will find this super weapon in Chapter 5: The Holy City of Aratum.

  • Shatter: More damage to armor of demons

3. Shredder – Rapid-Fire Spike Launcher

This weapon is kind of fully automatic machine gun which you will get in Chapter 1: Village of Khalim. Basically Shredder gun functions like a heavy duty SMG by firing spike shaped projectiles at a rapid rate. It is excellent for mid-range engagements and allows you to quickly chip away at enemy health.

Best Upgrades of Shredder

  • Pin Cushion: Enhances damage over time.
  • Ricochet: Projectiles bounce to hit multiple targets.
  • No Frills: Rate of Fire is increased
  • Barbed: Shedder Projectiles deal more damage

4. Impaler – Precision Railgun

When you reach Doom the Dark ages Chapter 4, named “Sentinel Barracks” and looking for Dragons Den you will get to see Impaler. It is kind of Shredder but as it fires a spike-shaped projectiles unlike the rapid Shredder, the Impaler is all about precision. Impaler is Ideal for long-range engagements, it can eliminate enemies with a single, well-placed shot.

  • Salvage: Picking impaler ammo empowers your next shot

5. Accelerator – Plasma Beam Weapon

This gun is available on Chapter 2: Hebeth, where you find a pod while looking for demonic corruption in Defend Hebeth Mission. It is said that this Doom the dark ages weapon is best to break enemies defense which I tested and honestly, it does. Accelerator emits continous plasma beam that melts down the defence wall.

  • Feedback: Shooting demon builds charges
  • Modulator: Fire rate increase at max charges
  • Heatblast: Maximum charges fired
  • Mega Cell: Time it takes to accelerate lose charges
  • Overload and Stabilizer

6. Cycler – Shock Inducing Plasma Rifle

Cycler can be said as next-gen Accelerator in Doom the dark ages due to its twin barrels that have capacity to fires plasma spikes at moderate firerate. This weapon can electrify enemies by causing chain reactions among groups. To get this weapon you have to reach Chapter 5: The Holy City of Aratum and destroy one of ships in initial segment

  • Shock
  • Amplify
  • Fulmination: Shock duration is increased
  • Overload

7. Pulverizer – Bone Shard Shotgun

This weapon is very lethal and coolest in Doom The Dark Ages because it shoots shards of bones like a wide arc. You can get this weapon in the beginning of Chapter 4: Sentinel Barraks inside a pod. It is best when you have to face alot of demons at once.

  • Runic Skull: Creates a charge based upon size of a demon
  • Runic Strike: Main that charge
  • Flay: Enhanced projectiles and spread

8. Ravager – Enhanced Bone Shard Shotgun

Ravanger is an upgraded version of Pulverizer and can be found in Chapter 12: Sentinel Command Station. Doom the dark ages is a unique game due to its weapons collection. Like other weapons Ravanger is a next level gun that focuses on hail of bone shards into a tight spread with rapid fire rate in single time.

  • Vampirism: Damaged demons drop health pickups
  • Ignition or Slow Burn
  • Supplier

9. Chain Shot – Flail Launcher

Unlike other classic and deadly weapons in Doom the dark ages, This weapon is not inside pod but on a table from where you can pick it off. You can get this by solving a quick puzzle in Chapter 6: Siege-Part 1″.

  • Eldritch Blessings: Hell surge attack instantly charges your next shot
  • Gravitational Flux

10. Grenade Launcher – Area Denial Weapon

Like you can guess by the name, Grenade launcher in Doom the dark ages is designed for area denial and for launching explosive projectiles to deal heavy damage over a wide area. This launcher weapon is unlocked after during Chapter 8: Abyssal Forest.

When grenade launcer is fired, it throws a projectile that bounces and explore near contact of enemies.

  • Fragment: Every third direct hit drops clustered grenades
  • Rupture: Direct hits drop cluster nades to enemies that are effected by shield saw
  • Cataclysm: Every second hit drops Cluster nades

11. Rocket Launcher – High-Risk but High-Reward Destruction

Rocket Launcher in Doom: The Dark Ages is a powerhouse which you’ll find it in the first area of the Chapter 10: The Forsaken Plains inside a weapon pod near the front gate during the objective to breach it. This launcher can deliver a massive explosive damage and this weapon is capable of destroy groups of enemies. However, the immense power comes with the risk of self-inflicted damage if not used carelessly.

  • Cannibalism: Strong hell wave but temporarily gives self damage
  • Cooked or Blood Sacrifice
  • Bloodlust: Cannibalism last longer

How to get new weapons in Doom The Dark Ages?

You got the list of weapons but still there must be a question. How it can be achieved and the answer to this is by progressing through the story campaign usually by finishing missions, defeating bosses or exploring hidden areas and secret chests.

Some weapons like the BFC in Doom the dark ages are super rare and can only be found in secret rooms so make sure you keep your eyes open while exploring. Once you unlock a weapon you can upgrade it by visiting the Armory or Weapon Vendor in-game where you’ll spend your Gold, Rubies or Race Stones to make your gear even stronger.
